Transit for the Trees 100 rides = 1 Tree

Update

WTA bus trips September 22 - 27, 2023.

A drawing of a tree with a thermometer overlaid on top of it showing 0 bus rides at the bottom and 100,000 bus rides at the top. The thermometer is 68% full, depicting 680 trees that will be planted for ridership through September 27th. 100 bus rides = 1

Join us on the road to a greener future! As part of the City of Bellingham Climate Action Week, Whatcom Transportation Authority will plant one tree for every 100 bus rides.

By riding the bus, you will directly contribute to the growth of our urban forest and help offset greenhouse gas emissions. Our goal is to plant 1,000 trees while reaching 100,000 rides between September 22 and September 30, 2023.

We invite you to participate in this collaborative effort with WTA and the Whatcom Million Trees Project in order to promote sustainability, create cleaner air, and contribute to the well-being of our community.

Whatcom Million Trees Project’s mission is to plant or protect one-million trees locally to enhance our community’s health & resilience -- and to connect everyone in fun, hands-on work parties and special events to the immense multi-faceted value of trees & forests.

This event is part of the City of Bellingham’s ALL IN for Climate Action Week 2023. Find a full list of events at cob.org/climate-action-week.
